Welcome to Almalayika Switzerland

Almalayika – Switzerland is an independent, non-profit humanitarian association founded in August 2024 by Swiss humanitarian activist Houaida Sekri. Based in Lugano, in the canton of Ticino, we work to support children whose lives have been shattered by war and conflict, wherever they are in the world. 

We believe that every child has the right to a safe, dignified life – with access to education, healthcare, clean drinking water and protection. These are not privileges; they are basic rights that must never be compromised. 

Our work is purely humanitarian and non-political. With transparency and compassion, we stand beside children who have lost almost everything, so that their childhood is not stolen by war.

Our Current Focus: The Children of Gaza

Since more than a year, Almalayika Switzerland has focused its efforts on the children of Gaza, who are facing one of the most tragic humanitarian crises in the world. 

Together with local partners and dedicated Palestinian educators and volunteers, we are:

  1. Running an educational tent in the south of the Gaza Strip that welcomes more than 3,000 students who have lost their schools. 
  2. Supporting an elementary school in the north of Gaza to ensure that young children can continue their education despite the destruction around them. 
  3. Providing safe drinking water projects for families and children. 
  4. Delivering food and clothing to the most vulnerable families. 
  5. Sponsoring orphans and covering their basic living and educational needs. 
  6. Supporting medical care and essential medicines for children and their families.
